How to Display Graded Cards: 7 Tips for Showing Off Your Slabs

Grading a card is a statement: this one matters. Then it usually goes into a box. These seven tips will help you get your best slabs out where you can see them, without trading protection for presentation.

1. Give the slab its own case

A slab protects the card, but the slab itself scuffs and scratches with handling, and a scratched face is the first thing you notice on a shelf. An outer acrylic case takes that wear instead. The CardBlx PSA Case is sized for PSA slabs, and the CardBlx GradedGuard Case fits a slab that's already in a GradedGuard bumper. See both on our graded card display cases page.

2. Stand cards upright, at eye level

A slab lying flat on a shelf disappears. Standing it upright puts the card and the label where people actually look. The CardBlx Display Stand holds one case upright on a desk, shelf or cabinet. Use one per case to line up a row.

3. Keep your display out of direct sunlight

Sunlight fades card ink and labels over time, and a sunny windowsill is the fastest way to lose color. Pick a wall or shelf that never gets direct sun. For lighting, LED bulbs are a good choice because they give off very little UV and heat.

4. Mind heat and humidity

Attics, garages and damp basements swing in temperature and humidity, which is hard on paper cards even inside a slab. A normal living space with a steady temperature is the safest place for a display.

5. Put your raw favorites in the lineup too

Not every great card is graded. Raw cards in Ultra PRO ONE-TOUCH magnetic holders fit the CardBlx One Touch Case. Cards in Zion MagPro cases fit the CardBlx MagPro Case. The CardBlx All Touch Case comes in 35pt, 130pt and 35pt Horizontal sizes. See them together on our raw card display cases page.

6. Group by theme, and use color

A display reads better with a theme: one team, one player's run, one set, or all your PSA 10s. Case colors help tie it together. The CardBlx MagPro Case comes in nine colors, so you can match team colors or color-code a shelf by set. Collecting something specific? 7. Rotate what's on display

You don't need wall space for every card. Keep a few favorites out and rotate the rest in from a drawer or storage box every month or two. The same cases protect cards in storage as well as on a shelf, so swapping is quick.

Keep the cases clean

Dust with a soft microfiber cloth. For smudges, use water or a little mild soap. Skip glass cleaner, ammonia and alcohol, which can cloud or craze acrylic.
